Whenever you discuss about the gaming industry there is always a question that is asked more often or comes in mind and that is 3D Modeling.

What is 3D Modeling?

How is it used in Game Development?

Well the answer is quiet easy for this particular question.

3D Modeling is a way of designing game characters, environments, maps, , interior designs, and much more using certain software’s currently being used into the market.

There are many software’s that successfully established software houses and gaming geeks use some of the famous ones are Autodesk 3DS MAX, Sketchup, Z-Brush , Blender and Maya.

3D Modeling

There may be more but the above mentioned are some of the few famous software’s.

The most frequently used among the above mentioned are Maya, 3DS Max and Blender.

Maya and 3DS Max belong to the same brand name that is Autodesk. Whereas blender is a tool made by the Blender Foundation.

3DS Max and Maya are not free tools and require pin verification to unlock their features where as Blender is an opensource tool with no premium support and easy to use.

But blender has many limitations, It is also used for 3D Modeling, animation, rigging etc. But the results are not as satisfying and up to dated as that of Maya and 3DS Max.

Z-Brush and Sketchup have their own significance and are more advanced then 3DS Max and Maya.

Sketchup is mostly used for drawing applications such as architectural, interior design, landscape architecture, civil and mechanical engineering, film and video game design. It is available as a freeware version but also has a paid version as well.

Whereas Z-Brush is used for creating high-resolution models (able to reach 40+ million polygons) for use in movies, games, and animations. ZBrush uses dynamic levels of resolution to allow sculptors to make global or local changes to their models.

We will be sharing the interface of all these softwares shortly. Stay Tuned.
